Categories
Categories are the second level for assigning your
expenses, income or budgets and for viewing totals. They are independent of classes
(if you create a category whithin a class it can also be used in other classes).
Category corresponds to what some financial programs call Category Group or Supercategory.
The list shows all current categories. Categories marked as obsolete are only
shown if you select the menu option All Categories.
You may create a new category with the menu option New Category or by
pressing the identically named last item in the list (you get there quickly by pressing DEL on the keyboard).
You may view all the transactions of a category by
long-pressing it in the
list and selecting the option in the context menu.
There are also context menu options for editing or deleting a category.
If you delete a category, all its subcategories and budgets will be
deleted also
(after confirmation), but its transactions will still exist
(the category and subcategory in these transactions will be cleared).
If
you rename a category, it will be rernamed in all its transactions. It
is permitted to rename it to an already existing name. This is useful
for joining two categories.
By
entering a letter on the keyboard, the list will be scrolled to the
first category starting with the letter.
