Subcategories are the third level for assigning your expenses or income and for viewing totals. They further differentiate a category, if needed (they are optional).

Subcategory corresponds to what some financial programs call Category.

The list shows all current subcategories of a category. Subcategories marked as obsolete are only shown if you select the menu option All Subcategories.

You may create a new subcategory with the menu option New Subcategory or by touching the identically named last item in the list (you get there quickly by pressing DEL on the keyboard).

You may view all the transactions of a subcategory by long-pressing it in the list and selecting the option in the context menu.

There are also context menu options for editing or deleting a subcategory.

If you delete a subcategory, its transactions will still exist (the subcategory in these transactions will be cleared).

If you rename a subcategory, it will be rernamed in all its transactions. It permitted to rename it to an already existing name. This is useful for merging two subcategories.

You may also change the category of a subcategory, all its transactions will be changed accordingly. This is useful for transferring a subcategory to another category.

By a letter on the keyboard, the list will be scrolled to the first subcategory starting with the letter.
